About

Principle: I’m Francis Fabregas. As a Filipino, I’m a simple guy and easy to work with. I’m also a pastor focusing on youth ministry. I like the books of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine national hero. Salindiwa is inspired by him. His life and works reflect the Filipino potential to make a global contribution and positive impact. At the same time, I also use his books to constructively criticize the weaknesses of my country. His criticism provides a strategic entry point for the gospel.

Philology: The word ‘SalinDiwa’ is a compound word. As a personal definition, ‘salin’ means ‘translation,’ and ‘diwa’ means ‘soul,’ ‘spirit,’ or the innermost being or essence. For me, it literally means ‘translating the soul.’ It implies faithfulness to the source, preserving its essence and meaning while creatively dressing it up with a new cultural and contextual form suited and appropriate to the contemporary target audience or recipients.

Profession: The concept of ‘SalinDiwa’ is ‘the soul’ of this website. It also expresses my ‘vocatio’ calling, ability, and passion offered to the Lover of my soul—Jesus Christ. It showcases my ‘works’ as a translator (since 2006) who strives to be faithful and diligent in producing quality results motivated by my love for God and for my neighbor as I love myself. Hence, the ethical principle (soul) of my work is ‘love’ expressed in three interlinked values below.

By God’s grace I strive to:

  • Please ‘God’ through diligence.
  • Contribute quality projects to my ‘neighbor’ (clients & partners) through diligence.
  • Build ‘my’ reputation through diligence.
