When I was in Trans World Radio Philippines, in Baguio City, my main job was translation (English—Tagalog). I translated the Thru the Bible commentaries of Dr. Vernon McGee. Oh! This project transformed me! It touched my innermost being and released the potential or gift that the Lord has given me – love for translation.
When I was employed to be part of the translation team, I started the translation (at least, as I remember it) from the major prophets (that is, from the book of Isaiah in particular). From then, I moved forward to the New Testament. I also made a major contribution to this work through editing and revision. And so, in a sense, I have a ‘translation input’ throughout all the commentaries.
The translation of these commentaries was for radio, and so the style of the translation had been tailored as a radio script. The script is conversational, with logical transitions and no ‘dead spot.’ This project took 6 years to finish.
After the work of translation, the office tasked me to summarize the Commentary of J. Vernon McGee into devotional bits while faithfully maintaining the essence of his message. I was able to reach the book of Ezra when I worked on this task.
After this, the next project assigned to me was translating the sermon messages of a well-known Christian life speaker, Dr. Charles Stanley. I was also given an opportunity to become its radio host. My years of work in this organization were awesome; it trained me as a translator.
